Earlier in the month we told you about how The Advertising Standards had rejected a complaint made about the current Winner Bingo adverts. The complaints weren't upheld because ASA regarded "Mr Winner" as an eccentric and who did not appear to be seeking to seduce or attract by ripping off his clothes.
However many of you are wondering who is the actor who plays Mr Winner in these series of TV adverts and who also features on the Winner Bingo Website. The answer to that question is that we believe it's a guy called Sanderson Jones. He's a stand up comedian and he's involved with a group called The Sunday Assembly, which is described as a "communal gathering is for non-religious people".
A former advertising salesman, an interesting fact about Sanderson is that he's played at a sold out Sydney Opera House. He sold all the tickets himself and according to COBJ "researched the audience and incorporated their online lives into his show". It's slightly ironic that we're now researching Sanderson - let's hope he doesn't come looking around Loquax for some new stand-up material.
Sanderson isn't new to the world of advertising having appeared in a Colgate Max White commercial as "Rupert the Photographer". Surprisingly it's quite hard to find him being credited as "Mr Winner". This does make us slightly nervous but if you watch the clip above and then compare it to the Winner Bingo adverts then you soon realise that it's got to be him - or at least someone who looks very similar and sounds pretty much the same.
Thankfully we've also located a winner bingo photoshoot which confirms Sanderson in the role. So there you have it! The clothes removing, owl name forgetting and eccentric Mr Winner is revealed. Let us know if you've seen any of his shows or been to The Sunday Assembly!
