Surprises don't happen very often these days in online bingo. As soon as there's a whiff of a brand new site in the air there are reviews and pages online about it - usually months before it goes live. However the folks over at 888 have been all ninja like and released not one but four new brands this week.
Well we say new but at least three of the brands are in fact revamps of original Dragonfish network skins! The revamps are Bingo Hearts, Bingo Ballroom and Daisy Bingo whilst T Rex Bingo makes it debut as the truly new site. These brands join the same stables that contains the likes of 888 Bingo, Redbus, Tasty and Posh. However it should be noted that they all are on the Dragonfish Network.
We suspect that this is 888's way of keeping up with the likes of Intertain, 8Ball and Gaming Realms/Quick Think Media. Intertain are the driving force behind Costa and it's ever increasing list of sister sites. These include Froze, Monkey, Dino, Rio and Sparkly. Quick Think Media also are releasing new brands on Dragonfish including Candy Shop, Iceland, Lucky Charm and Bubble Bonus. 8Ball are another player in this market and they too have a number of brands that use the same platform.
So is this good news for players?
Well no not really! Whilst all the sites look good and have a nice welcome offer, they are simply rehashes of the same Dragonfish platform that is used by countless other brands. There are no exclusives or anything via social media that would give an edge. Perhaps as things develop we may see unique individual site and network promotions?
The load em up and stack em high technique seems to be a tactic now employed by more networks. It most certainly means more opportunities to capture players and pick up market share - whether it's in player number terms or SEO. However there's one word that goes against this tactic and that one word is Tombola! How can The UK's biggest bingo site continue to beat all others without networking itself under different brands?
That all said we welcome the arrival of T Rex Bingo, Bingo Hearts, Bingo Ballroom and Daisy Bingo. It's always good to see new sites and relaunched sites in the bingo-sphere. We'll be keeping a close eye on how these brands develop. Will they be left like Bingo Street or is this the start of some exciting times?
