Hull Favourites To Make Most Deadline Day Deals
Added On 30th January 2017
It's almost the end of January and that means it's almost time for Jim White to tell us that the Transfer Window is firmly shut. Now this window hasn't been particularly exciting in terms of player movement, but there could still be a flurry of activity as clubs seek the opportunity to strengthen their squads for the rest of the season.
If there are transfers taking place then there's the opportunity to bet and Ladbrokes have some interesting prices on club and player activity for deadline day. These include 10/11 that former Chelsea star Frank Lampard signs for any club before the end of the window. Another former Premier League star, Dimitar Berbatov, is 5/1 to sign for any English club before the transfer window - could be heading to Swansea?
10/1 For No Top 4 Signings
It would be very unusual for the top clubs to not buy players this window - and it would ruin Sky's coverage of the transfer window too. Ladbrokes will give you 10/1 that the top four (Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal) will NOT to make any signings on Deadline Day. Throw in the Manchester Clubs to the equation and the odds increase to 16/1. We'd be surprised if City don't add any players so the top four at 10/1 might be worth a punt!
Whilst Sky might not get much joy by covering transfers to the top clubs, they may get better rewards by focusing lower down the table. Ladbrokes have Hull at 2/1 for making the most signings on deadline day. We're not too sure about this as they've been shipping players since Silva took over and it may be tough to get players in at short notice. Sunderland at 7/2 might be worth a look and as an outsider cast an eye over Southampton.
Hull Favourites For Last Transfer
Southampton are rumoured to be in for a loan goalkeeper, central defender and forward. Mouez Hassan looks certain to be brought in as back up for Fraser Foster and the club are close to securing Manolo Gabbiadini. However, The Saints have been hit by injury to Virgil Van Dyke plus sold Jose Fonte to West Ham. They are very weak in the centre of defence so a couple of new signings on deadline day would not be a surprise.
Saints may also be worth a watch for the last transfer of deadline day. The Gabbiadini transfer has been drawn out and may go to the wire. You'll get 12/1 that Southampton are the Premier League club to make the last Deadline Day signing. Hull are 6/1, Sunderland 8/1 and Stoke are 16/1. We all know Tony Pulis loves a few late deals as does Sam Allardyce so 8/1 for Crystal Palace and 11/1 for West Brom are our outside punts.
