Winton House is located on Portsdown Hill Road, Portsmouth. It's described as a £3.2million dream home based on a valuation in June 2019. From what we can determine the property has been up for sale recently but is no longer on the market. Intriguingly the valuation of the property matches the required ticket sales which suggests to us that the valuation may err on the high side. Zoopla also value Winton House between £1.7million and £2.5million. However this point doesn't detract from the fact that this is an amazing property.

How To Enter The Competition

The house boasts five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Downtairs you'll find a huge kitchen that includes a central island with granite work surface. These are joined by a detached Indoor Heated Pool House with a 44 feet swimming pool and gym. If all that wasn't enough for you then there's an Annex which has two bedrooms, living Room, bathroom & kitchenette. Seeing as believing and do take the time to check out what this property has to offer. Full floor plans and various images of the property can be seen on the website. Refreshingly for these kind of competitions the promoter does provide images of the view from the front of the house.

To enter the competition you need to answer a multiple choice question and select how many tickets you wish to purchase. Note that you can't enter with a wrong answer. If you get the answer incorrect you'll be told it's wrong and asked another question. Entries cost £10 and as far as we can see there are no discounts for multiple purchases. There's no limit to the number of tickets that you can purchase. As the multiple choice question element of the competition is deemed "skill" then a no purchase necessary postal route is not available for this particular contest.

320,000 Tickets

The owners - via the promoter Lit Digi Ltd - aim to sell a minimum of 320,000 tickets (£3.2million revenue) by the closing date of 22nd December 2020. If insufficient tickets are sold by this point then a second and final closing date of 31st January 2021 will be applied. The house will not be awarded if the minimum of paid tickets is not met. Instead a cash prize will be awarded. According to the terms, if the number of entries are not reached "The Promoter will be entitled to retain 50% of the Entry Fees to cover Administration and Marketing expenditure". The remaining 50% will be paid out as a cash prize. This is quite low when compared to other current competitions which typically pay out 70%+.

This is another impressive property that's joining the house raffle market. However the ticket price is on the high side when compared to the other competitions that have launched this year. £10 ticket priced competition tend to struggle against those that cost a couple of pounds. We're also disappointed with the cash prize determination if not all tickets are sold. A 50% cash pot is very much on the low side. There's also no referral element which other successful competitions have implemented.

Closed Early

In November 2020 the Winton House competition abruptly closed and announced on it's website that "The Winton House competition is cancelled under Clause 5.3 of the terms and conditions. All entrants will be refunded in FULL. The refund process will start on Monday 23rd November 2020". According to the terms the refund would usually not include the transaction fee but the owner has stated that "refunds are in FULL and no transaction fees will be deducted". No details have been give with respect to the reasons behind the closure, especially as the official closing date of 22nd December was only a month away. Enter Competition Here
