On August 24th Photobox will be embarking on one of the most interesting competitions of 2011. For 24 hours they will be running a photography competition. That’s 24 hours, 24 photo challenges and 24 chances to win! Photo tasks will range from ‘Snap a self portrait’ to ‘Make us Smile’ to ‘Colour’ and more. Each hourly winner will receive a fantastic prize from cool cameras from Sony, a 4* overnight theatre break for two, a £150 spa voucher from Wahanda, an amazing family holiday to Florida for 4 from Low Cost Holidays, a Supercar driving experience including favourites such as The Lamborghini Gallardo and The Ferrari 360, a LoveFilm unlimited box set, 10 tickets to Alton Towers (or a Merlin theme park of your choice) and much much more.
£3000 Cash Prize
The 24 hourly finalists will then be pulled together to create a mesmerising montage of the world in one day. From this, one image alone will be chosen and announced on Friday – a tough job for the Metro’s Picture Editor and Chairman of the Picture Editor’s Guild, Alan Sparrow. He will crown one talented photographer the winner of ‘24LIVE’, recognising creativity within photography and the ability to capture an instant, and awarding them the grand £3000 cash prize. This creative competition, which marks the launch of PhotoBox’s instant photobooking studio, places Pros and Amateurs on a level playing field. According to Photobox they’re looking for the best response to the hourly subject and not necessarily the person with the best camera kit.
Who Will Win?
Who’ll win? Will experience shine over talent or will pure creativity take gold? It’s great fun for all the family too – so for mums and dads – get the kids involved on a rainy Wednesday and have some free fun to while away the end of the summer hols. You’ll be joining nearly 4000 fellow photo lovers poised and ready to take part, natter and share their snaps. A few points worth mentioning! The photos are meant to be taken within the hour period (and they’re meant to be taken by you). The late night photos will probably attract fewer entries, so if you’re able to stay awake drop in and see what the current subject is! We’re not sure if Photobox will reveal the hourly subjects in advance, but if they do you can then plan your photos.
Give It A Go
Remember you need to upload them – so give yourself time to take the photo and get it uploaded. That said don’t rush in to sending in the first thing you take, think about the subject, does the photo reflect the subject in a creative way and is there anyway to make the photo better?
