Apply For The New Deal Or No Deal

You’ve probably seen in the news that Deal Or No Deal is returning to our screens. The original show launched in 2005 on Channel 4 and ran for 11 years before it was axed. Throughout that time the popular game show was hosted by Noel Edmunds. He oversaw numerous episodes which saw contestants pick out various red boxes with the aim to beat The Banker and leave with a cash prize. On paper the concept sounds as dull as ditch water TV but, under the guidance of Edmunds, it quickly became a cult classic and must view watching. What made contestants select certain boxes? Was there something in the stars? Could the energy in the studio really help players reveal the low priced boxes and retain the big money prizes? Over the 11 seasons of Deal just over 50 players walked away with just 1p whilst 9 took home the top prize of £250,000. According to reports the series was cancelled due to falling ratings. Something Channel 4 didn’t like given the costs involved in producing the programme.

Stephen Mulhern To Host The New DOND

If you’ve missed your fix of Deal Or No Deal then there’s good news as ITV have decided to bring back the show. The format will remain the same but there will be no Noel Edmunds. Instead the new host will be Stephen Mulhern. Mulhern who is well known for shows like In For A Penny, Saturday Night Takeaway and Catchphrase has said that he’s “beyond excited” about taking the helm of such as iconic show. We expect that ITV will be bringing it back as either part of their Saturday evening entertainment line-up or as a group of evening shows running over a number of weeks. We don’t think it’s going to return as part of the day time schedule although only time will tell. However despite the format, the host and the history, these kind of shows are nothing without contestants and the hunt is now on for people willing to take up the challenge. A dedicated Deal Or No Deal website has been set-up and applications are now being accepted for the show. If you have what it takes to beat The Banker then why not apply today?
