Over the five weeks of our Christmas Countdown competition we asked a few questions about your favourite things at Christmas. We wanted to know avout your favourite Christmas movie, song, carol, food and what you’d like to see under the tree from Santa. We’ve collected all the data, verified it and and here are the things that make a Comper’s Christmas!
Favourite Christmas Movie
Topping the list was Elf, starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf who walks through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest to find his real Dad in New York City. Not far behind was Home Alone and this was followed by the classic White Christmas. Some of you “Believe” and chose Miracle on 34th Street as your favourite Christmas movie, whilst others preferred the “Bah Humbug” of A Christmas Carol, our 5th placed movie. The Dickens Classic would probably have taken a higher spot but it’s vote was split by different versions! Disappointingly not many of you chose Die Hard!!
Favourite Christmas Song
This was the tightest of all the categories with a wide range of songs chosen. However, topping the charts was Fairytale of New York by The Pogues & Kirsty McColl. This was followed by Wham’s Last Christmas and Merry Christmas Everyone from Slade. White Christmas popped up at No.4 whilst Wizzard’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday beat off Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree (!!) for 5th place.
Favourite Christmas Carol
If favourite song was the tightest category, then favourite carol was the most one sided. Silent Night polled over 35% of the vote to easily beat off a challenge from Away In A Manger at 2. Jingle Bells, that well known Christmas Carol (!) turned up in third place with O Come All Ye Faithful and In The Bleak Mid Winter making up the rest of the top 5.
Favourite Christmas Food
This Christmas you’re all looking forward to your Roast Turkey. This was a fairly comfortable winner in for favourite Christmas food! Mince Pies and Christmas Pudding followed in second and third place, whilst Pigs in Blankets (yum) popped into fourth place. That left Christmas Cake to take fifth place. Surprisingly sprouts didn’t feature very highly at all. We guess you’ve been using them to fill your baths with?
Christmas Most Wanted!
We wanted to know what present you’d most like to see under your Christmas Tree this year! An iPad 2 (some of you were just happy with an iPad) was the most popular answer with the Amazon Kindle following in second place. After that the comper’s most wanted present this year is a laptop – presumably so you can do keep on comping all over the house. Some comper’s aren’t materialistic and opted to have peace and happiness as their ideal present whilst others just wanted snow. A few people also wanted their front teeth! So there we have it – a Comper’s Christmas! We hope you enjoyed our fun festive look at your answers and hopefully have got you in a bit of festive spirit with the videos enclosed.
