Ice Cream lovers are being encouraged to celebrate life’s simple joys – as Mackie’s of Scotland launches its largest ever on-pack and online competition. “A Summer of Simple Pleasures” will see the brand give away ten weekly prizes, all carefully chosen to represent some of the simple things in life which can bring most joy. A recent survey by Mackie’s confirmed that over 90% of us are enjoying simple pleasures more since lockdown and that over 90% intend to retain that focus when the restrictions are lifted.
The Simple Things In Life Can Be The Best
The campaign will feature on a special run of 400,000 of the Aberdeenshire-based business’s “Traditional” real dairy ice cream tubs – its most popular flavour and the product most likely to reach fans throughout the whole of the UK. Karin Mackie, Marketing Director and one of Mackie’s three sibling owners, said: “It’s true what they say – the simple things in life can be the best. We hope this promotion will resonate – as it such a universal subject and our survey found that cooking and eating is one of the most popular categories of simple pleasures”. “Everyone has their own take on what constitutes a simple pleasure, and it is interesting how some can vary so much from person to person. Not only that, recent months have shown us how easy it can be in our busy lives to have forgotten about the pleasure to be found in the little things. We want to capture some of this spirit – and our prizes touch on some instantly recognisable pleasures from cooking, reading, enjoying nature and cycling outdoors to getting into a bed with fresh sheets”.
Weekly Prizes
Weekly prize giveaways will include items such as: an outdoor pizza oven; a year’s supply of fresh flowers, an Electric Hybrid Bike, luxury bedsheets and our ultimate prize is a lifetime supply of Mackie’s ice cream. Each week features a different main prize including a summer’s worth of ice cream, for the winner and 5 runners up and the weekly entries also gain entry to tenth week’s prize draw. Just enter your details each week to enter the prize draw. The theme chimes with Mackie’s “Making Simple Delicious” ethos, with its ice cream famed for being made with real fresh dairy ingredients from the family farm and using only natural flavourings and colourings. Enjoying an ice cream can also be a simple pleasure moment of relaxation. Mackie’s Traditional real dairy ice cream is also its original flavour, created when production of ice cream started in 1986 after changes in milk taste towards semi-skimmed variety led to an excess of cream on the farm.
About Mackies
The Traditional recipe has barely changed since – and now has a cache of awards, including “outstanding” two stars from the Great Taste Awards 2019. Over the years it has become Scotland’s best selling ice cream and has made Mackie’s one of the UK’s top brands for luxury ice cream. The fourth-generation family farm where Mackie’s is based, Westertown, in Aberdeenshire, North East Scotland – and Mackie’s still produces it all using fresh milk and cream from the farm’s own herds.
The farm production team have been able to keep working during the Covid-19 crisis, implementing new distancing and hygiene procedures to supply ongoing demand from customers at home, and which has increased in the recent sunny weather. The company’s sky to scoop ethos sees it create everything from milk to its packaging on site, powered predominantly by renewable energy – via four wind turbines, a 10-acre solar farm and a biomass energy plant.
