Did you know that last year we didn’t write about advent competitions? Well we didn’t – and so to make up for it we’re unleashing an earlier than usual post about that most wonderful time of the year. We don’t know when it happened but the term “advent” in the comping world has changed meaning and now encompasses anything daily and festive.
We’re not surprised some sites actually run daily competitions in November rather than in December. Firstly there’s less competition for attention and secondly it’s a lot less stressful. Running an advent is good fun but by the middle of December everyone who regularly enters is either jaded or spending what time they have chasing the big prizes.
So what’s happening this year advent wise?
Once again the listing and posting of advents will fall on Loquax users – as we come up to the third anniversary since things changed – it’s incredible to think that comping is alive and well on site and that people still turn back to us for advents.
Last year, due to injuries, there were no changes on the advent tracker front. To be fair we didn’t really need to do too much as our system has always worked well. However this year there are changes and these should make finding and entering so much easier.
First off your ignored and entered comps will vanish off the lists. Also any block options (e.g. don’t show Rafflecopters) you have will be included plus the “squishy buttons” also operate if you search by category. These should make things easier for you.
Secondly we’ve added new options for listing. We’ve included a “prize category” for the first time so you can quickly select advents to target. Now this isn’t foolproof as prizes may vary at a particular competition daily but it will give you a starting platform. E.g. if you like food and drink advents then select that list first. The tracker works across the pages so there’s no need to worry about duplicates.
Finally we have opened the advent (or daily festive comps) sections early. It’s not ideal and we’d much prefer advent competitions ran from the 1st to the 24th. However there are few comps to get on with already, plus it’s given us the chance to make some further improvements to the site.
