We don’t enter that many competitions, but gadgets and drink gizmo site Drinkstuff.com posted up a Facebook competition yesterday with the prize being a large gummi bear.
The World’s Largest Gummy Bear
In order to enter the competition you had to “have a guess at how many calories are in a Gummy Bear?”. The prize was “The World’s Largest Gummy Bear?”. To help you Drinkstuff.com kindly mentioned “don’t forget it’s the equivalent of 1,400 regular sized gummy bears!!”. Well folks if you go to Firebox.com they tell us… “If you’ve ever wondered what 6120 calories look like … feast your eyes on the Giant Gummi Bear. Standing 24cm tall and weighing in at a diet-clobbering 2kg, this gelatinous lump of yumminess is equivalent to 1,400 regular sized Gummi Bears”.
A Bag Of 10 Gummy Bears
And as the only person who suggested 6120 calories surely Gummi Bear heaven was on it’s way to Duck Towers! Sadly we’ve been denied as Drinkstuff have announced the answer is in fact 12600 calories, and the answer seems to be backed up here where the 1400 bears are also mentioned. A look around the web and we discover a bag of 10 Gummy Bears are about 87 calories, making the 12600 answer more realistic. Boo!!! The moral of the story is don’t rely on Firebox.com for answers! Double check your answers before posting – and don’t count your Gummi Bears before they’re hatched. You never know when a “dead cert” competition win is going to be cruelly taken from your grasp.
PS This is just a for fun competition story as we’ve done a few voting/serious posts of late.
