Are There Winners At MyOffers?

When we first wrote our Competitions Guide, MyOfers was regarded as the main online prize draw site. Run by a company called IPT Limited, they hosted e a large number of prizes including cars, holidays, vouchers and the latest electrical prizes. Their competitions feature on a number of websites including MSN, The Mirror and Tiscali. To enter, users would register and complete surveys/fill in their details for offers in order to enter the prize draws.

The site is still running today but is now owned by MyOffers Ltd. It claims to be the "UK's No.1 competition, prize & free stuff site" and still runs prize draws but these are now alongside Product Tester, Mystery Shopper and Secret Diner offers. They run what is called "permission marketing" - where you enter prize draws in exchange for your information so that sponsors can contact you.

But do people win? Well yes they do but the chances of winning might not be so good as we reported in our blog way back in 2007! We don't expect that your chances of winning will have improved.

GetMeATicket & Other Sites

MyOffers isn't the only site of this kind either. GetMeATicket still operate as does UKPrize, Win4Now and Vaniki, but Consumer Lifestyles, Clash Prize Draws, ConsumerHouse and QuizPlayer have all closed. Interestingly many of the sites that are still going do look to be shadows of their former selves with less prizes. Most certainly car giveaways seem to be absent!

The problem with these permission marketing competitions is that that they often overlap each other. For example 'Site A' may look to be running three prize draws of 500 vouchers. However in reality there's only one prize! You'll just getting three entries into the same hat.

Some prize portals will still feature these kind of competitions. However we made the decision to stop featuring them as we felt they weren't good for compers.

In answer to the question - yes people do win - but the question you need to ask yourself is are there better competitions to spend your time on. We think that there are!
