Bear Competitions Review

Bear Competitions is a low odds prize draw site that offers visitors the chance to win cash, cars and more. Winners are guaranteed for each draw and these are conducted live via Facebook. Ticket prices start as low as 49p! Like McKinney and Bounty, Bear also share the accolade of creating property winners. The most recent of these chose the £250,000 cash alternative as opposed to the available property.

Bear Competitions

Established in January 2020 by John Mallon, Bear Competitions - based in Northern Ireland - have grown considerably. They boast over 100,000 followers on Facebook and nearly 40,000 followers on Instagram. Their prize roster varies considerably and in the past they've ran giveaways for a Landrover Defender, Dubai Holiday, PS5 Console, Husqvarna Sit-On Landmower and even a New Holland Tractor. However many of the prizes do focus on cold hard cash! At time of writing the site had just five draws running - a Range Rover Sport or £40,000, £1000, £10K, a sit-on lawnmower and a Makita tool set. Prices range from 49p up to just under £20. Each prize draw has a limited number of tickets available and a set closing date.

How To Enter

To enter a competition you need to answer a multiple choice question. You're not told whether your answer is correct or not so Google is your friend if you're stuck. However the questions aren't particularly difficult (e.g. What colour means stop at traffic lights?). After selecting an answer you then select the number of tickets that you wish to purchase. You may need to login if a returning customer or a register if you're new. Payment is via debit cards. If sufficient tickets are sold by the closing date then the draw takes place. Bear Competitions claim in their FAQ that they've never pushed back a timer as tickets usually sell well, but the option is there if required. A no purchase necessary postal route is linked on each giveaway.

Winners

Winners of the prize draws are chosen using a Google random number generator. This is all done via live stream on all social media pages. Click through to Bear Competitions and you'll find over 30 pages of winners listed on their site. Only details of the winner and winning number are provided. There are no links to entry lists or the live feeds for the respective draws. Whilst these aren't necessary we do think that it creates a greater air of transparency and makes it easier to check back on results. The winners are mainly from Northern Ireland but there are UK and Ireland winners too. There is a section for Entry Lists on Bear Competitions but this is empty - we wonder whether it's simply a holding ground for competitions that are about to be drawn?

Our Verdict

Bear Competitions say that they "want to offer people the chance to win a dream prize experience with crazy low odds". Given that they've dished out over £20million+ in prizes they're definitely fulfilling that brief. Compared to other sites they don't have as many prize draws running at the same time but we're impressed to see that entrants can play for just 49p on at least one giveaway. We like the fact that Bear do try and offer something slightly different - we've only seen a couple of sites that have offered a tractor or truck as a prize. The large number of Northern Ireland winners may put off some entrants but according to Bear this is because most of their players are from there. As far as we can see there are no gamble aware notices or information about sensible play so that is something we'd like to see added to the site.
