Beach Condo In Italy

Visit Central Italy launched their second property competition in January of 2021 and have been quick to follow it up with a third. Their original contest was one of the surprise successes of 2020. For this particular competition they've headed right down to the foot of the country and an area called Reggio Calabria which is home to the National Archaeological Museum. The island of Sicily can be found across the Strait of Messina. Whilst we know the rough location the valuation of the property is now known but their are apartments for sale in the area at around £50 to £60K.

About The Property

The property on offer is described as a stunning top floor seaside apartmen. Inside is 'spacious' with one bedroom, bathroom, living area and solarium on the roof. The apartment comes fully furnished so is ready to be used as a holiday home or rental. We believe the property may be part of a complex and that has communal areas including pool. No details are given regarding any community and service charges. As far as we know all costs and taxes will be covered by Visit Central Italy although if you already own property in Italy then second home tax is not included.

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the competition you need to purchase a ticket and leave an answer to the question "where are the bronze statues in Italy located". Apparently there's meant to be a pop up but we've never seen it and instead entrants are advised to use the notes section to leave the answer when at the checkout. In the first Visit Central Italy competition there was a free entry route option. The terms do say "there's a limit of one free postal entry per household to be sent to the promoter" but the details about how to use a NPN route aren't very clear.

Unknown Ticket Sales

Usually at this point we mention how many tickets need to be sold. However the promoters, Visit Central Italy Ltd, seem to have omitted this important detail. The competition is expected to run for at least a year or until all tickets are sold. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a cash prize. This will be determined after the deduction of any expenses and marketing fees but the promoters fail to say how much this could be. As in their previous competition we'd like this to be better outlined.

Our Verdict

Visit Central Italy are being quick to build on the success of their first competition and again have another decent prize on offer. There are a few things they could still do better including providing details about the rentail potential of the property, charges etc. The process to buy tickets and answer the question could be greatly improved. We'd also like to know the ticket sale targets and how much is paid out as a cash alternative if the competition fails. Until we know for certain we've estimated the number of ticket sales to be around 10,000 based on ticket price and estimated valuation.

October 2021: Unfortunately due to ongoing concerns about this platform we've removed our links to all Visit Central Italy contests.
