The property on offer is a two bedroomed cottage that has been extensively renovated from a former working barn. It contains many original features and includes a stunning bespoke kitchen, a unique twin stone inglenook fireplace in the living room and exposed oak beams in the bedrooms. Snowdonia National Park is just 15 minutes away so the property could be perfect for holiday rentals.

How To Enter

Visit Cwellyn Dream and purchase tickets to enter the competition. You'll need to complete your details and answer a multiple choice question to qualify. Note that the question does change. To complete the entry you'll need to purchase tickets. These cost £5 each. All entrants are asked to consider a £1 donation to The Children's Society - thereby making the entry £6. All donations that are made will be matched by the owners.

A free no purchase entry option is available. Details of how to enter via a postal route are given in the FAQ and terms. The owners of Cwellyn Dream aim to sell 80,000 paid for tickets (£400,000) in order to create a home winner. As far as we can see there isn't a maximum ticket level therefore the competition will run until the closing date in September. The promoters reserve the right to extend this date by just 28 days.

Cash Prize Alternative

If insufficient tickets are sold then a cash prize alternative will be awarded. This will be the money taken from ticket sales minus an administration fee. This fee is capped at 20%. Unusually the promoters layout the potential cash prizes in their terms. For example if 40,000 tickets are sold then the winner will receive a £160,000 cash prize. Note that the matched charity donation will only be met if the minimum number of tickets is sold.

As part of the competition all entrants have the chance to win £10,000 via referrals. The entrant with the most referrals will win the cash prize. However this award will only happen if the minimum number of tickets are sold. In short the promoters want entrants to advertise their competition and support their chosen charity. However they will only reward these points if the property is sold. We think both these points are a little bit unfair.

Our Verdict

This is a very nice property and at £5 a ticket is reasonably priced. The purchasing processing is incredibly smooth too. Given the location and holiday rental potential of the property we would like to have seen some information relating to this on the website. Running costs and possible rental incomes could help persuade entrants who might not wish to live in North Wales.

It'll be interesting to see how this competition pans out. The images of the renovation are well worth a look. A charitable donation from the promoters - on top of those given by entrants - regardless of how the competition finishes would be a nice gesture.

Early Closure

The competition closed on 4th September. Details are as follows: "As you may have been be aware, we have had difficulties with our payment gateway this week. It has been a frustrating time for us as we've tried to find a solution to get it up & running again as soon as possible. Unfortunately it appears that any solution will take at least 2 weeks, which would take us beyond the competition closing date of 15th September, and we have never had any intention of extending the competition. Therefore out of fairness to everyone who has taken part so far, we have taken the decision to close the competition today, Friday 4th September".

The draw will take place on 30th September at noon and will be live streamed on Facebook.
