House Competition is a standalone competition site Patricia Turedi. She's decided to raffle her cottage on what we can only describe as a very comprehensive website. A lot of information about the property, location and competition is here. This includes a recent valuation as well as potential income if the property is rented out. For example it could bring in £36,000 a year if rented out via AirBNB! Turedi has decided to opt for the raffle route to give someone the opportunity to win her home but also to raise funds for The Children's Hospital Charity.

How To Enter The Competition

The property itself has two bedrooms and is spread over four floors. This includes a cellar space and one of the bedrooms in the attic space. The kitchen ihas solid wood worktops plus farmhouse sink whilst outside there's a beautifully landscaped garden. There's no garage but there is off road parking. Images of the propety plus a floor plan can be seen on the website. Conveyancing costs up to a maximum of £1250 and any taxes or duties that may be due upon the date of completion, up to a maximum of £2500, will be paid by the owner if the property is won.

Tickets for the competition cost £2 each. You will need to register an account in order to make a purchase. Before you can purchase raffle tickets you must answer a general knowledge question. Note you're not told whether you get the answer wrong or right but you really shouldn't get the answer wrong! The default ticket purchase in the cart area is 10 so just be aware of that. There are no discounts for purchasing larger numbers of tickets. All entrants will receive a referral code and a £5000 prize draw is running for those who wish to share their code. Note if the ticket target is not reached then the referral prizes are not awarded.

200,000 Tickets

House Competition require a minimum of 200,000 paid tickets (£400,000 revenue) to be purchased by the end of August 2021 for the house to be awarded. If they reach this target beforehand the competition does not close. Unusually for property competitions this one doesn't indicate that an extension will be activated should insufficient tickets be sold by the closing date. If not enough tickets are sold then a cash prize will be awarded. This is given as "consisting of the cash equivalent of the total number of tickets sold, minus 30% administration fees".

As mentioned The Children's Hospital Charity will benefit from charitable support. However this support is initially from donations made by entrants. The terms indicate that "Each Entrant has the option to add a 50p donation to their Entry purchase on the website". If the promoter meets their target then they say that they "will match all donations made". A No Purchase Necessary postal route is available should you wish to opt fo this method of entry. Details of where to send your entry are given quite clearly on the website.

Our Verdict

Patricia Turedi has put together a very impressive competition site which hopefully will pay off for her. The ticket target is reasonable but we wonder whether Turedi has allowed for marketing requirements in order to achieve the minimum ticket sales. Unusually there aren't (so far) any social media pages for the competition. The referral prize element may help spread the word but we do think that some kind of referral rewards should be paid out regardless of conclusion rather than if the ticket target is reached.
