For their second prize draw of 2024 Omaze have decided to head back to the South West. Located in St Agnes, Cornwall is a fabulous five bedroom property that's worth over £3million. After a Google search we can tell you that the property is known as Kew House and was listed for sale back in April/May 2023. There's even a Yotube Video that gives you a tour of the property. It's described by estate agents Knight Frank as a "recently completed contemporary home" and had a guide price of £3.25million. Meanwhile Cornwall Live featured the house in a most viewed property listings article in May. They described the home as being a Grand Designs-esque home. Intriguingly another video tour appeared on Youtube in August with a different estate agent which suggests that it perhaps didn't attract enough interest earlier in the year - at least not until Omaze snapped it up.

About The Property

Kew House in St Agnes comprises of five bedrooms, three of which are on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The main bedroom has an en-suite whilst all three have access to a balcony that offers stunning views. Downstairs is a large kitchen/dining space that is sandwiched between two living areas. A link hallway joins the garage plus utlity area to the rest of the property. The secret den is a mezzanine floor area which we think is off bedroom 4. The property is set in 0.66 acres and outside you'll find a hot tub as well as those amazing views of the village of St Agnes. According to the estate agents description there's room to park up to six cars! A £100,000 cash prize will be included though to help you settle in, pay the electricity bill on the hot tub, or hang on to it long enough to sell. All furnishings are included. If you win and are thinking about rental opportunities then Omaze suggests that you can realise between £3000 and £4000 per month.

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the prize draw you simply need to purchase tickets. Tickets for the competition cost £10 for 15 entries. Unfortunately you can't purchase less than £10 worth of tickets. Other ticket packages cost £25 (40 entries), £50 (85 entries) and £150 (320 entries). A recent new option is the subscription service. Pay £10 a month for 30 entries. Do check the terms before siging up for this! For a free entry you can send a postcard or envelope to the address given on the website. This is worth doing as "once a postal entry has been processed it will be entered in to the next available draw and all subsequent draws until the final Grand Prize drawing". Postal entries have an equal chance of winning as any one paid entry. If a postal entry wins a prize there will be no further purchase or payment necessary to be notified of the win or to receive the prize.

Guaranteed Prizes

As we mentioned in the other competitions, we think that it's worth entering this Omaze competition as the prize is guaranteed even if not enough tickets are sold. This means there will be a home winner and no competition extensions. Additionally there are early bird entry prizes on offer and the chance to win weekly cash prizes. For example enter before 10th March 2024 and you could win a Porsche Taycan 4S. Gift vouchers are also being given away in Big Dreamer giveaways that will also take place during the promotion. In terms of good causes, The WWF will also benefit from ticket sales. Omaze has guaranteed a minimum total payment of £1million for the charity - we think that this is much higher than previous draws? Note that the competition is open to UK residents only.

Our Verdict

Off we go again with an exciting property located down in Cornwall. It looks great and very desirable but just when are Omaze going to come to Wales (surely we have some million pound properties). Overall Kew House does look great but we are wondering why it took so long to sell? Was there a lack of interested buyers? Is there some reason why it didn't sell? Some might say these questions are irrelevant but remember if you win then you might want to offload and offload quickly. Especially if keeping the property ends up eating into the £100K cash prize that's included (The Daily Mail). Compared to previous properties, the £3000-£4000 rental per month seems quite modest. Given the running costs of a million pound property - including potentially 100% Council Tax bills for second homes in the area - it doesn't sound that attractive a proposition for that route.
