After creating several UK million pound house winners, Omaze have surprised us by deciding to go overseas for their next prize. Overseas property draws are notorious for not creating winners but as Omaze guarantee that they'll giveaway the prize then we at least know someone is going to become the owner of a fabulous villa in Marbella. If you fancy joining the jetset in the sun then this is the draw for you. The villa's location is given as on "Marbella's Golden Mile" which is "well known for its luxury shops, high-end restaurants, star-studded clubs and private yachts". The exact location isn't known although we did think we had found it using a Google Image Search - however the property we looked at was considerably more expensive (16million Euros).

About The Property

Downstairs you'll find a kitchen, dining area and lounge plus various patio/terrace areas. There are two pools - a family sized one plus a smaller one off the lounge area. Upstairs are four bedrooms - all ensuite - with a terrace leading off from the main bedroom. If all that wasn't enough space for you there's also a roof terrace. Images and a video tour of the property can be found on the Omaze website. There’s no mortgage, no stamp duty or conveyancing to pay. Omaze suggest that the property is perfect for holiday lets and could bank £10,000 per calendar month. We always remind at this point that big houses cost big money to run and again Omaze don't provide information regarding general costs such as council taxes etc. Having a millionaire's house is fine provided you can afford to own it! A £250,000 cash prize will be included though to help you settle in or hang on to it long enough to sell.

How To Enter The Competition

Tickets for the competition cost £10 for 15 entries. Unfortunately you can't purchase less than £10 worth of tickets. Other ticket packages cost £25 (40 entries), £50 (85 entries) and £150 (320 entries). For a free entry you can send a postcard or envelope to the address given on the website. This is worth doing as "once a postal entry has been processed it will be entered in to the next available draw and all subsequent draws until the final Grand Prize drawing". Confusingly the terms state you can make one entry via the free entry route and then says that there is "no limit to the number of entries" made that way!

Guaranteed Prizes

As we mentioned in the other competitions, we think that it's worth entering this Omaze competition as the prize is guaranteed even if not enough tickets are sold. This means there will be a home winner and no competition extensions. Additionally there are early bird entry prizes on offer and the chance to win weekly cash prizes. For example enter before September 11th 2022 and you could win a Porsche 911 GTS. Look out for other incentive prize draws to encourage you to purchase tickets. In terms of good causes, Teenage Cancer Trust will also benefit from ticket sales. Omaze has guaranteed a minimum total payment of £100,000 for the charity. Note that the competition is open to UK residents only.

Our Verdict

We didn't think that Omaze would switch to overseas properties for their prize draws so this has come as a bit of a surprise. But it kind of makes sense as it mixes things up a little and saves people getting bored of big UK houses. Additionally as we go into the colder and darker months the idea of having a villa in Spain, seeing sunny skies by a beautiful blue pool and not having to buy a kettle to get cheaper bills is a lot more appealing. We do like that Omaze are including £250,000 in the prize bundle although we'd love to know the running costs for the villa. Our only concerns would be how easy would it be to manage rental wise and/or sell on. They're probably not huge concerns for someone who's just won a £2million property but you don't want to end up saddled with an expensive house abroad if it's hard to upkeep or will cost a lot in taxes etc to sell on.
