Omaze are turning around their property prize draws at a rapid rate now and for their latest it's back down to Devon. Like the previous Norfolk property this one was relatively easy to find online. It's called Bottor Cottage and "is a Georgian house and gardens located in the Dartmoor National Park" (Vesp). It has undergone a huge renovation having been sold in 2014 as a restoration project. According to Rendells who marketed the property it "occupies a rural location close to the village of Hennock and approximately two miles from the country town of Bovey Tracey". The guide price in 2014 was for offers over £350,000. It actually sold for £470,000 so it's current Omaze price of around £2million represents an impressive profit. You can read more about one of Devon's prettiest homes on Great British Life.

About The Property

The outstanding feature of this stunning Devon property is the gardens. According to Vesp they were designed and re-landscaped by Alice Blount Designs. The design uses a geometric grid of paths and planting. You'll be needing some of the £100,000 cash offered by Omaze to keep the grounds well maintained! The house itself comprises five bedrooms, two with ensuite. The main bedroom's ensuite looks about the same size as Bedroom 5! Downstairs is spacious kitchen/dining area plus living room and study. The house also includes an annexe that has two bedrooms and also living space plus a kitchen downstairs. All furnishings are included and you can check it all out in fine detail by viewing the gallery on the Omaze website. If you win and are thinking about rental opportunities then Omaze suggests that you can realise a rent of up to £3000 per month.

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the prize draw you simply need to purchase tickets. Tickets for the competition cost £10 for 15 entries. Unfortunately you can't purchase less than £10 worth of tickets. Other ticket packages cost £25 (40 entries), £50 (85 entries) and £150 (320 entries). A subscription service is also available. Pay £10 a month for 30 entries. Do check the terms before siging up for this! For a free entry you can send a postcard or envelope to the address given on the website. This is worth doing as "once a postal entry has been processed it will be entered in to the next available draw and all subsequent draws until the final Grand Prize drawing". Postal entries have an equal chance of winning as any one paid entry. If a postal entry wins a prize there will be no further purchase or payment necessary to be notified of the win or to receive the prize.

Guaranteed Prizes

As we mentioned in the other competitions, we think that it's worth entering this Omaze competition as the prize is guaranteed even if not enough tickets are sold. This means there will be a home winner and no competition extensions. Additionally there are early bird entry prizes on offer and the chance to win weekly cash prizes. For example enter before 10th September 2023 and you could win a VW California Ocean Camper Van. Gift vouchers are also being given away in Big Dreamer giveaways that will also take place during the promotion and each segment of this part of the draw will create up to 5000 winners. In terms of good causes, Macmillan Cancer Support will also benefit from ticket sales. Omaze has guaranteed a minimum total payment of £100,000 for the charity but suggest that they expect to donate up to one million. Note that the competition is open to UK residents only.

Our Verdict

As a property this looks like one of the most "normal" ones that Omaze have listed. By that we mean it doesn't have 100s of huge windows, a swimming pool or come straight out of a Grand Designs magazine. Well that's if you overlook the fabulously landscaped gardens which are going to take up a fair amount of time and money in keeping in pristine condition. We have to say we do like the look of it barring the amount of time that might be required weeding. A couple of interesting observations are that firstly the property value is almost half of the Norfolk one and the early bird prize is a lot cheaper than the £250,000 cash that Omaze usually love to offer. Aside from that there's not much else to add. It's a well known property and easy to locate so keep an eye on the comments for any user additions to the discussion. Enter Competition Here
