As we expected following the success of the first Raffall win a house competition further ones would follow in it's footsteps. Paul Nicholson is the promoter of this one and he's offering a four bedroom detached property as a prize. Details of the location on Raffall are limited but news reports of the competition give us the location as Clowne which is in the Bolsover district of Derbyshire. Interestingly Nicholson does say he is not disclosing "the properties exact location in order to protect myself and family who still live here. But why would you try and win a house when you don't know it's exact location?

How To Enter The Competition

As well as the 4 bedrooms the property, which is situated in a "quiet cul-de-sac", has a blocked paved driveway and solar panels to the rear facing roof. It also boasts under-floor heating, garage and garden. You can review images of the property as well as a video on the Raffall site and additionally on their Facebook page. Although the house has been "newly-renovated" the owner has struggled to sell and cites the current health crisis as the reason.

To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window which we found disappeared very quickly. Tickets only cost £2 and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards. As far as we're aware this property competition is not making any donations to charity.

300,000 Ticket Sales

Nicholson hopes to sell 300,000 tickets (total revenue £600,000) before the end of October in order to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales. All compensation payments are guaranteed and paid directly by Raffall Limited. This is a little bit different to house competitions run by individuals and should offer more assurance to entrants. The fact that the previous competition concluded within 4 weeks may also encourage entries.

With Raffall platform competitions we're going to repeat the same issues. That includes the big issue of details of the property being far too scant. Surely entrants need to know exactly what they're entering for and that means including the location of the prize. Additionally there should be some indepth terms and conditions outlining the "selling" process to the winner plus who pays fees etc. In this case we also think the 300,000 tickets target is a bit on the high side.
