Raffall is a competition platform that allows people and companies to host their own raffles and giveaways. You simply set up the raffle and Raffall deal with the online payments, hosting etc. Dale Tate has used the service before and this time has chosen to giveaway his property in Ossett plus a car. From reports in the media the family are looking to giveaway the house as they're planning to move to Australia.
How To Enter
The location of the property is not divulged although we do know that the prize is a Strata Home and it's in Ossett, West Yorkshire. It's a detached property with four bedrooms including a master suite that covers the entirity of the second floor. In addition to the house the winner will also receive a 2017 Volvo XC90 Hybrid. The promoter will include a full valet and a years car insurance.
To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window which we found disappeared very quickly. Tickets only cost £1 and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards. As far as we're aware this property competition is not making any donations to charity.
Payments Guaranteed By Raffall
Dale Tate hopes to sell 400,000 tickets before the 17th September in order to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales. All compensation payments are guaranteed and paid directly by Raffall Limited. This is a little bit different to house competitions run by individuals and should offer more assurance to entrants. Whilst this is good news there are a few issues with respect to the competition.
The biggest issue is that there are no terms and conditions specifically for this competition. There are Raffall's terms but for a win a house raffle we'd like to see something formal and appended to the actual giveaway. We understand the promoter's reluctance to not share their postcode but they're running a house competition with publicity in the media and therefore entrants have a right to know where the property is located. This will allow them to find out about sales in that area and the kind of rent the property could attract?
Our Verdict
We also found the Raffall platform to be incredibly cumbersome when it came to registering, logging in, validating email, finding the draw and then trying to enter. We suspect that if this particular draw attracts enough attention - even if it doesn't conclude - then other house sellers may jump on the bandwagon. If that is the case then Raffall will need to do more to ensure a speedier journey and more clarity for entrants. One plus point is that if you do buy a ticket then view the entrants. This should give a guide to how well the giveaway is performing.
Winner Announced
After just one month all tickets were sold and the competition concluded on the 19th July 2020. The winner was announced as Claire Reynolds from Wakefield. The draw was done online and streamed via Facebook.
