After a hiatus, Win Houses In Italy (not to be confused with Visit Central Italy) have returned with a new prize draw. This time round they're offering the chance to win a one bedroom apartment set within the Borgo Colleoli Resort. This resort is close to the town of Palaia whilst Pisa International Airport is just 35km away. If you'd like to find out more about the resort then take a look at the Borgo Colleoli Resort website. We've found a number of apartments for sale in this location although mostly 1 bedroom, but Idealista has a two bedroom apartment listed at 95,000 Euros - and it's worth noting that this has had a huge price drop from 139,000 Euros. There may be good reasons for the drop (e.g. bank repo or must sale) but it's something to note.

About The Prize

The apartment itself is described as "spacious open plan living/dining room with an ancient stone fireplace, with direct access to a large private balcony that overlooks the gardens". It has one bedroom (but can sleep up to 4 so we're guessing there's an alternative option for sleeping) and comes with central heating and, air conditioning. It is also fully furnished so it's all set-up for a holiday home or rental. To tempt you further the location is set amongst olive groves and there are two swimming pools to enjoy. The website is full of images of the property so you really do get a feel for the prize on offer. Transfer taxes and legal fees are covered by the promoter and the prize includes a trip to Italy to sort out transfer of ownershp. Two years condominium fees are paid for as part of the prize. Frustratingly Win Houses In Italy don't include the current fees nor provide any rental potential numbers. These would be useful to know.

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the competition you need to answer a multiple choice question. Click the green 'Enter Now' button and complete your details and the number of tickets you wish to purchase. You then need to answer the question about the capital of Italy. We're not sure whether the transaction will go through with a wrong answer but in our view it's very difficult to get the answer wrong - and you can always Google it before completing the purchase if you're really struggling. One thing that we do like is the option to buy a gift card - although we'd love to see an option to gift a ticket entry instead. A free entry option is available and details are given in the terms. Note that a postcard needs to be sent to a UK address.

12,000 Ticket Sales

The promoters, Letterbox Redd Ltd, hope to sell a minimum of 12,000 tickets at £25 each (total revenue £300,000) before the end of January 2023 in order to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a cash prize. This will be after deductions for admin/marketing costs and a further 5% for charitable donations. The FAQ states that the cash prize will be 65% of the net ticket value! As far as we know the charity being supported with this particular draw is The Children’s Society. Unlike previous draws there doesn't seem to be a referral element included for entrants but there is a new affiliate scheme (note we are using such a link and pay earn commission from sales).

Our Verdict

Win Houses In Italy have had some success with respect to their prize draws and they could well emulate that with this particular offer. The ticket price is a little on the high side (but not McKinney £49/£99 levels) but the ticket target is reasonable in comparison. They've been able to hit this target before and with less competition in the win a house stakes they could be OK. The property itself looks lovely and an ideal holiday home in Italy. We would like more details though especially with respect to the rental potential, fees that need paying etc. On a positive note we do like the fact the Win Houses In Italy include flights and hotel accommodation for when the winners collect their prize.
