Joining the mix of pay to enter prize draw platforms in the win a house stakes are Aspire Competitions. A Taunton based company, Aspire have been running successful giveaways online since 2019. Their website says they're the home of camper competitions and their motto is win big, spend little. This is their first foray into house competitions and they're staying close to home by offering a property located in Truro. We found a similar property for sale on Zoopla with the location as Alice Meadow, Grampound Road, Truro, Cornwall TR2. It's valued at £525,000 which is worth noting because the cash alternative offered in this draw is just £400,000. That £100K difference (plus some as there are extras) may avoid the "having to raffle it again" scenarios we see with McKinney.

The Property

The property being offered is a detached 4 bedroom house in Alice Meadow. The property is brand new and offers high-specification features throughout. Details on Aspire Competitions are quite limited as are those on the Zoopla link above and Bradleys Estate Agents. On the plus side we can tell you that it has a beautifully spacious corner garden. Stamp Duty, even if this is your second home, and legal fees will be covered by Aspire plus they'll include £10,000 cash to help you get settled in. As far as we know the property doesn't come furnished. Included in the prize is a 2021 VW Transporter T6.1 LVS Recaro (there's more info on this than the house), a couple of surfboards and a box of pasties. Forget the property and campervan, it's all about the pasties really!

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the prize draw for the chance to win this new home in Cornwall you simply need to purchase your tickets from Aspire. All you have to do is choose the number of tickets that you want to buy and purchase them. Tickets can be purchased as singles and it seems the max you can purchase is 85. There's no discount incentive to purchase in bulk but it may be worth keeping eyes on Aspire's social media for any potential offers and/or chances to win free tickets. There is a free entry route offered for entrants who wish to take that option. Entry is via postcard and details about how to complete your entry are given on the website.

250000 Tickets

Aspire Competitions aim to sell a maximum of 250,000 tickets at £5.99 (total revenue of £1,497,500 provided all tickets sold at max price) in just a few weeks with the draw concluding on the 3rd March 2024. Interestingly Aspire are guaranteeing the prize and therefore the draw will take place, regardless of ticket sales, on the 6th March. You might be tempted to hold on until the last minute to purchase tickets, especially as the prize is guaranteed, but Aspire are running some early bird giveaways. There are milestone draws on the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th February where winners can receive prizes such as Apple products and even a Luxury 4 Night exquisite Santorini Holiday for 2 worth £10K. In terms of charities, Aspire will donate £10k to Surfers against Sewage.

Our Verdict

There's a lot to like about this particular win a house competition. The ticket price is attractive, the house is quite nice (albeit lacking in detail), the prize is guaranteed, there are early bird giveaways and there's also a good cash alternative of £400K on offer. We guess that there could be an argument that the cash alternative should be of the same value as the property package. We also like the fact that Aspire are established and have previous form with running pay to enter prize draws. New comers to the win a house sector are more than welcome, but new sites with little or no previous seem to struggle to get those tickets sold. Aspire must be confident of a good result (for them) if they can guarantee the prize. Around 6000 tickets (2%) were sold in the first 24 hours. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
