Dream Comp is a paid to enter prize draw site along the lines of McKinney, Bear and Bounty. They are registered as Dream Comp International Ltd and is owned by Ben May. However they are pretty new having only launched back in November 2023. They did want to launch with a property prize draw but instead offered a holiday at The Retallack Resort in Cornwall where the current prize is located. In addition they have run - and are running - other pay to enter prize draws although there are only a few winners mentioned on the website and ticket sales for other draws are low. Hopefully this big prize draw will boost visitor numbers and interest in the platform. The prize itself is a holiday home located down in Cornwall, north east of Newquay. According to Dream Comp the property is worth £495,000 but with extras the prize package is closer to £550,000!

About The Property

The holiday home consists of four bedrooms and four bathrooms spread over three floors. Two bedrooms occupy the first floor and a further two on the ground floor. Both of these floors have balconies (which we guess will have a lake or country view). The lower ground floor is the main living area that consists of a lounge/diner plus a kitchen area. It comes fully furnished and includes a hot tub. Holiday homes attract quite sizeable fees but Dream Comp have stepped up so that the winner isn't (immediately) saddled with sizeable outlays. Stamp duty and legal fees will be paid alongside two years of site fees (up to £12,000) and two years annual insurance (up to £5000). The rental potential of this property is very attractive especially if the £48K average can be achieved. We guess that the winner will be able to liase with The Retallack Resort and figure out the best way forward for rentals.

How To Enter The Competition

Entry to the prize draw is very easy. All you have to do select the number of tickets that you wish to purchase and answer a very simple multiple question. The question is about the where the resort is located so you can't go too far wrong. Note that you're not told if the answer you've selected is correct so make sure you've chosen the right answer even though it's stupidly easy. If you're interested in entering the prize draw but not necessarily paying then a no purchase necessary route is offered in the site's terms and conditions. Details about how to enter via post you need to check out the terms and conditions. Note that any NPN entry will also need to include the answer to the prize draw question.

140000 Tickets

Dream Comp aim to sell a maximum of 140,000 tickets in this particular draw. Assuming all tickets are sold at full price that equates to just under £1.4million revenue. There are discounts though for bulk purchases - for example you can save £2.50 by buying 5 tickets! Keep an eye on social media for any discounts and also prize draws to win free tickets that may run during the promotion. The prize draw is relatively new and at time of writing has sold just over 50 tickets. There doesn't seem to be any indication of closing date or indication of what happens if not enough tickets are sold. However the blurb does state that "The Final Draw will not take place until a minimum number of tickets are sold". Profit from the draw will be shared by two charities - Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity and Rock 2 Recovery.

Our Verdict

The holiday home on offer is very attractive and located in a highly desirable area. We like that Dream Comp have included two years fees/insurance so that the winner can either enjoy their prize or sort out rental income. However this prize draw is on a new platform and that could be an issue. Whilst McKinney, Bounty etc have critical mass to sell enough tickets for these kind of prize draws, newer sites obviously struggle - Speed Competitions being good cases in point. The lack of closing date or indication of what minimum ticket sales are required is a concern. We do think entrants should know when tickets need to be purchased by as a basic requirement for any prize draw. Additionally any idea of what happens if not enough tickets are sold would be good.

Refunds

Unfortunately Dream Comp was only able to sell 174 tickets for this particular prize draw. According to their Facebook page they have announced the end of the promotion: "with a heavily disappointed heart I have made the decision to withdraw the house competition and refund all of the tickets purchased (I have personally contacted everyone who has purchased a ticket already)".
