According to reports Michael and Linda Chatha are raffling their property after splitting up but failing to find a buyer. The house is a four bedroomed country home that boasts a farmhouse style kitchen, dining room, large living room with built in library, an annex with living room and bedroom, large garden and driveaway. Full details about the property, locality and images can be found on the website.
Free Entries
Entry to the competition costs £2. To take part you will need to register and answer a multiple choice question. Once answered you're then taken to the payment page. At the payment stage you simply need to fill in your details, choose the number of tickets you'd like and complete your debit card information. There are no discounts for buying bulk tickets.
The competition's FAQ states that the competition is open to entrants outside The UK. Entrants can earn free entries for this competition by referring friends and sharing their own link online or via social media. We expect this mechanic may improve the competition's chances of completion. A £5000 reward is offered to the player who refers the most players. A no purchase necessary postal entry option is also available.
Cash Prize Alternative
A minimum of 280,000 paid entries (£560,000) are required by the closing date in order for the property to be offered as the prize. A maximum of 500,000 tickets may be sold during the promotional period. If the minimum isn't achieved then a cash alternative - set at 90% of ticket sales - may be offered but note that the competition can be extended by up to one month according to the rules. The promoters are also hoping to make donations to Hope House.
At time of writing the website states that they've already reach the half way stage of ticket sales after just 4 days. Considering that many other raffle sites have struggled this is quite a feat. The competition has featured in the press but unfortunately there's no social media pages to monitor interest or verify these claims.
"House Will Definitely Be Awarded"
The closing date for this competition has been changed from the end of January to 10th February. The reason for this is cited as an issue with the payment system. This should be back up and running soon and the owner's expect to announce a winner on the 14th of February. The website even states "yes, we are DEFINITELY awarding the house".
