Pay to Enter Prize Draw sites like McKinney, Elite and Bounty have embraced property giveaways but have so far stuck with properties close to home or in Spain/Portugal. Bear Competitions have decided to spread their wings a little bit further for their latest giveaway and are in Dubai. On offer is a luxury two bedroom apartment in the exclusive Jumeirah Five in the Jumeirah Village. Finding similar properties at this location was quite easy (e.g. Booking.com and Dubizzle. The former shows a property that's currently no longer available to rent (could it be the same one?) whilst the latter shows a two bed apartment for sale at around £700,000!

About The Property

Details about the property and location are quite limited on Bear Competitions but they do have plenty of images and that should be enough to give you some idea of what's on offer. The apartment has two bedrooms, amazing views and a large terrace with private pool. It comes fully furnished so it's ready to move in to or potentially rent out. To help you with the ownership of this apartment, Bear will also give the winner £50,000 cash plus business class flights to visit the country. Whilst there you'll be able to drive a Supercar and enjoy a Desert Safari. What's missing from the details is how much it costs to own this property in terms of local taxes, service charges etc. or details about rentals. If owning a Dubai apartment isn't for you then Bear Competitions do offer an alternative of £500,000 in cash.

How To Enter

To enter the prize draw you need to first answer a multiple choice question. It's pretty easy as it's about which the tallest building in Dubai. We're pretty sure everyone will be able to get this one right without using Google as two of the options aren't in that country. However if you do get the answer wrong then you're not told so just be careful. Once you've selected your answer you then can choose to purchase either one to four tickets. Purchases can be made using debit cards or Paypal. Once your order has been placed your ticket number(s) will be randomly allocated and will show on your order confirmation. You should receive an email notifying you of your ticket numbers.

59999 Tickets

Bear Competitions are hoping to sell a maximum of 59999 tickets (maximum revenue of just under £1.8million assuming tickets all sold at full price) by the closing date the 30th June 2024. Tickets are on sale at £29.99 but for a few days they are selling at a reduced price of £19.99. A no purchase necessary route is available. You can enter the competition for free by sending your entry on an unenclosed handwritten postcard by first class post. Bulk entries in one envelope will not be accepted as multiple entries and if a bulk entry is received, it will be counted as one single entry. If you're keen to try a postal entry then our advice is to get it in as fast as possible.

Our Verdict

At time of writing this prize draw had been running 24 hours and had already sold just over 5000 tickets. Bear Competitions state that the £19.99 early bird is the lowest price they'll go for this giveaway but it'll be interesting to see whether that's the case - especially if sales slow down or stall. The apartment does look amazing but we would love to see more details about running costs, insurance, charges etc. as well as information about potential rentals. We think for this apartment for example service charges will be around £3000 (based on size of apartment and Googled cost per square metre). We're happy to see a cash alternative for this one as we think that's the most likely choice for the winner even though the apartment itself is worth a few pounds more.
