The raffle style prize draw sites continue their increasedinterest in house prizes with Bear Competitions returning to the fray. This time round they are offering entrants the chance to win a brand new home located in Gallion Glen. It's in Cookstown which is west of Belfast for those of you who are unfamiliar with Northern Ireland. You can find out more about the property on offer and the development over at Propertypal. We think that the unglamourously titled House Type F is the property in question and according to Propertypal is available from £189,950. According to the info on Propertypal the development comprises of a "collection of luxury 3 & 4 bedroom properties and apartments perfect for first time buyers, professionals and retirees".

About The Property

The property is described by Bear Competitions as brand new. Details of the house are actually quite limited on the site but it appears to be a semi-detached. It has three bedrooms with an en-suite for the master bedroom. Downstairs comprises of a living room, kitchen/diner and a utility area. The house comes with £14,000 of furnishings so it's ready to move into. On your lovely new driveway you will be able to park the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTD that comes with the house package but you don't have a garage. However if owning property in the Northern Ireland isn't for you then Bear are offering a £200,000 cash alternative should you want to take that. Note that this cash prize is an alternative to the house, cash and car package.

How To Enter The Competition

Entry to the prize draw is very easy. All you have to do is answer a very simple multiple question about Boxing Day! Once you've selected your answer you can then choose the number of tickets that you wish to purchase and proceed from there. Note that you're not told if the answer you've selected is correct so make sure you've chosen the right answer even though it's stupidly easy. If you're interested in entering the prize draw but not necessarily paying then a no purchase necessary route is offered in the site's terms and conditions. 59999 Tickets

Bear Competitions aim to sell 59999 tickets before the Christmas 2023 in order to complete the draw. Assuming all tickets are sold at full price that equates to just under £600,000 revenue. There are some early bird prices though and we've seen a couple of social media prize draws for free tickets so look out for others during the promotional period. The prize draw has been running around a week now (at time of writing) and just over 4000 tickets have been sold. This is decent in some respects but not as quick as say Bounty who sold a similar amount in just under 24 hours. The site probably only needs to clear 1/3 of the available tickets to be around the break even point.

Our Verdict

The raffle style sites like McKinney, Bounty and Bear really have taken to property prize draws and it's great to see. Most certainly 2023 would have been pretty tedious if it was all about Omaze. Whether other raffle style sites that are outside Northern Ireland and Scotland can replicate this kind of promotion remains to be seen. Perhaps 2024 will see others have a try and do better than Speed Competitions. Thankfully cash alternatives are offered by the platforms so that interest in the prize draw isn't just confined to their local areas. Whilst sales look relatively slow compared to others we expect that things will pick up and that someone will have a huge present - cash or house - to enjoy come Christmas Day.
