If you've dreamt of having a property in South Africa then take a closer look at this contest hosted by Desire De Waal. On offer is a three bedroom home that is ideally situated for well-known safari destinations. The property is in the
Lonehill Village Estate. No valuation is given but looking at similar properties in the area then £130,000 seems appropriate for the prize in question. Interestingly this isn't the first time this property has been listed on Raffall. It did go up for raffle in January but for whatever reasons no tickets were sold.
About The Property
The property consists of three bedrooms with en-suite. The kitchen is connected to the dining room and it has plenty of Chinese stone work surfaces. Outside you'll find a 4grid gas braai (BBQ) with cover. In addition to the property the owner will also include a 2018 Mercedes Benz GLA200. All legal fees, transfer duty (stamp duty in the UK) and 2 economy return tickets to view your new home will also be part of the prize. Within the estate you'll find swimming pools, clubhouses and other facilities. We expect that these will incur service charges but no details are provided about these or any other costs to maintain security and the property.
How To Enter
To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window which we found disappeared very quickly. Tickets cost £10 each and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards. As far as we're aware no donations are going to be made to good causes.
20,000 Ticket Sales
The promoter hopes to sell 20,000 tickets (total revenue £200,000) to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales. All compensation payments are guaranteed and paid directly by Raffall Limited. This should offer more assurance to entrants about the legitimacy of the promotion. Note that you can see the number of entrants only if you've purchased a ticket for yourself.
Our Verdict
This is the first raffle property we've featured that's located in South Africa. Whilst the ticket price is on the higher side of things it's good to see that the ticket target is reasonably low. The biggest problem is location as overseas properties still struggle when it comes to raffles. When it comes to locations like South Africa we think hosts need to provide more details especially when it comes to home ownership, sales, taxes and any additional costs that may be incurred. In our view it's going to be an uphill task for this one to be sold via this mechanic.
