Usually when Omaze launch a new draw we have to head to Google to research it, but this time we didn't have to. A massive thank you to Ainsley who emailed us in with details about the property including location and background. The property on offer is a refurbished Victorian warehouse that has been "architecturally designed by award winning Smith and Newton architects". Located in the Hackney area of London it is just under a mile to Homerton Station and Bethnel Green Tube. Before it became the house it is today the location was on sale for £2.5million (Movehut). After renovation the property was on sale for around £6.5million before being reduced to just under £6million (Rightmove). Interestingly Omaze value it at over £5million and that includes the furnishings.

About The Property

This luxury property is set over four floors. In the basement you'll find a snug area alongside a gym which has it's own jacuzzi and sauna room. The ground floor hosts a kitchen, that has it's own terrace, living room dining room and the smallest of the four bedrooms. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are on the first floor - both have en-suite - with a study area whilst the top floor comprises the main bedroom, en-suite and storage. The warehouse has a courtyard garden but no driveway, garage etc. A £250,000 cash prize will be included though to help you settle in, pay the window cleaning costs or hang on to it long enough to sell. All furnishings are included as well as the jacuzzi and a bunch of plants to add some green to the industrial features. If you win and are thinking about rental opportunities then Omaze suggests that you can realise up to £12,000 per month.

How To Enter

To enter the prize draw you simply need to purchase tickets. Tickets for the competition cost £10 for 15 entries. Unfortunately you can't purchase less than £10 worth of tickets. Other ticket packages cost £25 (40 entries), £50 (85 entries) and £150 (320 entries). A recent new option is the subscription service. Pay £10 a month for 30 entries. Do check the terms before siging up for this! For a free entry you can send a postcard or envelope to the address given on the website. This is worth doing as "once a postal entry has been processed it will be entered in to the next available draw and all subsequent draws until the final Grand Prize drawing". Postal entries have an equal chance of winning as any one paid entry. If a postal entry wins a prize there will be no further purchase or payment necessary to be notified of the win or to receive the prize.

Guaranteed Prizes

As we mentioned in the other competitions, we think that it's worth entering this Omaze competition as the prize is guaranteed even if not enough tickets are sold. This means there will be a home winner and no competition extensions. Additionally there are early bird entry prizes on offer and the chance to win weekly cash prizes. For example enter before 14th July 2024 and you could win a Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo worth £170,000. Gift vouchers are also being given away in Big Dreamer giveaways that will also take place during the promotion. In terms of good causes, London’s Air Ambulance Charity will also benefit from ticket sales. Omaze has guaranteed a minimum total payment of £1million for the charity - we think that this is much higher than previous draws? Note that the competition is open to UK residents only.

Our Verdict

We're not sure about this one! On one hand it looks stunning with the big windows and airy rooms but on the other it also looks like a swanky office that you'd see on a BBC Drama. You're going to need a boatload of Mr Muscle window cleaner or at least eat into that £250K that's part of the prize. You'll probably also need some ladders if you ever want to put anything up on the walls. The £250K is a big jump up in cash from previous draws but we do think the car owner might need a few quid too when they take ownership of the Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo. Wonder what the insurance will be on that? Anyway this is a typical Omaze property - something sat on the housing market for a few months and then snapped up at potentially less than the asking price. The question is why didn't it sale?
