About 12 months, Bear Competitions jumped on board the win a house bandwagon joining competitors like McKinney and Bounty. Since then they've run a couple more property draws but this is their first one for 2024. Not only is this their biggest ever draw but it's also the first one to offer a holiday home. On offer is a luxury apartment in the Costa Del Sol. The property is in the Santa Barbara Heights complex which has direct access to Mijas Beach. A Google image search provides us with a listing on Idealista. That apartment is valued at 535,000 Euros or just over £450,000! Another property listed on Rightmove is valued slightly higher although the developer's own website suggests a valuation at under 500,000 Euros. These links however will give you further insight into the location and property.

About The Property

The property is a two bedroom apartment within a luxury complex that's ideal for use as a holiday home or holiday rental. According to the description on Bear the luxury apartment "features expansive living areas that open onto large balconies all with views of the pool, gleaming sea and undulating mountains". The Santa Barbara Heights complex also offers you the facilities of a five star hotel. Bedrooms include Smart TVs, automatic blackout window shutters and air conditioning. The prize includes a £30,000 furniture package, flights out to Spain and £25,000 cash. Bear don't indicate the rental potential of the apartment, but this property is available at up to €300 a week during peak season. Rentals would also incur Spanish taxes etc. so may not be the best choice. If owning a holiday home isn't for you then Bear Competitions do offer an alternative of £350,000 in cash.

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the prize draw you need to first answer a multiple choice question. It's pretty easy as it's about which City is the Capital of Spain. We're pretty sure everyone will be able to get this one right without using Google. However if you do get the answer wrong then you're not told so just be careful. Once you've selected your answer you then can choose to purchase either one to four tickets. Purchases can be made using debit cards or Paypal. Once your order has been placed your ticket number(s) will be randomly allocated and will show on your order confirmation. You should receive an email notifying you of your ticket numbers.

59999 Tickets

Bear Competitions are hoping to sell a maximum of 59999 tickets (maximum revenue of just under £1.5million) by the closing date the 3rd March 2024. Tickets are on sale at £25 but for a few days they are selling at a reduced price of £12.50. A no purchase necessary route is available. You can enter the competition for free by sending your entry on an unenclosed handwritten postcard by first class post. Bulk entries in one envelope will not be accepted as multiple entries and if a bulk entry is received, it will be counted as one single entry. If you're keen to try a postal entry then our advice is to get it in as fast as possible.

Our Verdict

At time of writing Bear Competitions had already shifted 19,000 tickets. That's pretty good but we're guessing the surge is powered by the 50% discount. In our view £12.50 is still pretty high costs wise and £25 is way too much. Given that it's possible to purchase up to 100 tickets in theory one entrant could spend £2500 on one prize draw. It'd be intriguing to know just how many entrants actually spend silly money on these kind of draws. The property itself is attractive and looks very luxurious. However owning a holiday home - even one that you've won - can bring challenges (taxes, upkeep, rentals, selling on etc). Hopefully the Mayor of Marbella won't be upset if the apartment is chosen as the prize. Overall though we'd take the cash prize. It might not be as high in value as the apartment but is a lot more flexible. Enter Competition Here
