Win A Narrow Boat

Not every property raffle offers you the chance to win a traditional home. Stephen Brew has been living on board a Narrow Boat for the past three years but it's time for that adventure to come to a close. He's hoping that the ending will be by awarding his 50 foot Narrow Boat/Canal Boat as a prize will be the perfect conclusion. The boat is currently located in Leighton Buzzard so the winner would need to collect and sail it to where ever they'd like to go. Note that 12 months mooring costs and boat license are included in the prize.

How To Enter

We don't know too much about the Narrow Boat but we believe that it only has one bedroom. It's had a full internal fit out within the last 18 months and includes solar panels, new electrics, and a brand new kitchen with Wren worktops and breakfast bar. Also included are a Sharp heat pump washer dryer, DFS recliner 2 seat sofa and a memory foam mattress and base. The promoter states that the boat will "ensure that the boat has a full hull survey" so everything will be ship-shape for the new owners - if the competition reaches it's target. We have no idea of the value of the prize so have estimated it at £75,000.

To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window which we found disappeared very quickly. Tickets cost £5 each and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards. Note that 10% of all ticket revenue will be donated to Oxford Hospitals Charity.

30,000 Ticket Sales

Stephen Brew hopes to sell 30,000 tickets (total revenue £150,000) to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales. All compensation payments are guaranteed and paid directly by Raffall Limited. This should offer more assurance to entrants about the legitimacy of the promotion. Note that you can see the number of entrants only if you've purchased a ticket for yourself.

Whilst it's nice to see something different in the win a house world it's hard not to think that this is going to struggle to complete. The prize isn't for everyone and the ticket price is much higher when compared to other competitions. Details about the prize are quite limited. Whilst the addition of the 12 months costs is a nice touch (as mentioned on their FB page) surely these fees need to be mentioned in the details? Overall this is an interesting prize but we suspect not enough tickets will be sold and it'll end up as a cash prize win for one lucky entrant.
