House raffles have expanded beyond the shores of The UK and Spanish company, Sesortsea "is a platform that connects owners that want to raffle their homes with people that would like to win a house". To kick off their venture they are giving entrants the chance to win a 2 bedroomed property. The property has no valuation so we've chosen a generous £150,000 based on an equivalent property search. This all sounds great but whilst the website looks pretty good there are few questions that are unanswered. The biggest one of which is what happens if not enough tickets are sold? See below for details.

How To Enter

The property itself looks lovely. According to the website it boasts 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 terraces, both bigger than 18m2. The house is fully furnished and comes with everything you need to move in or rent out. It's on a private residential estate and looking at the photos we're assuming it has a shared pool. The beach is just a three minute walk away from the property. The website states that all bills will be paid, including community charges, local taxes and other fees.

To enter the raffle you need to select the number of tickets you wish to purchase and then complete the transaction. You don't need to answer any questions and there isn't a free entry. This raffle is run under Spanish Law and has "the authorization of the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, the Spanish regulatory body for lotteries and raffles. Individual tickets cost €5 each but you can make savings by buying in bulk. When you purchase a ticket you're allocated a number.

125,800 Ticket Sales

From what we can deduce Sesortea are aiming to sell 125,800 tickets (total revenue £575,000) to conclude the draw. When you try and purchase tickets you can't get a number higher than 125,800! The closing date is March 2021. We're told by Sesortea that a winner is guaranteed. "In Spain the law is very strict when it comes to house raffles, which means participants know what they are getting, and the raffle organiser can't change the rules half-way through". This is good news for anyone considering entering the competition.

Given the current economic climate, a house raffle site offering properties in Spain does seem like a good idea. We can imagine that current UK owners may see a site like Sesortea as a good prospect for trying to move on their own Spanish homes. The site looks very professional and ticks boxes with respect to Spanish raffle law. The promoters have been in touch with Loquax and updated us on the process of their competitions. We like that the promoter's do say that a house winner is guaranteed regardless of ticket sales so it'll be interesting to see come March what happens.
