Following a first successful venture into the win a house sector, although we believe the winner actually decided to take the cash judging by the images on the website, Kilted Competitions are hoping for a repeat with a new prize draw. They're celebrating their third birthday with their biggest draw to date. One lucky winner could win a property in Montrose plus money and a charity donation or opt to take a £200,000 cash alternative. As ana side, the cash alternative here, and on indeed prizes on other sites, is highlighted as tax free cash. But this is just rubbish - in our view - as all prizes awarded in The UK are (at least for now) tax free. By highlighting "tax free" it kind of makes out that the prize is extra special. Anyway that's just a little bugbear of ours.

The Property

The property on offer is a split level, three bedroom townhouse that we believe is on Union Place. it comes with a spacious Lounge, open plan Kitchen & Family/Dining room and utility room. The three bedrooms are all doubles and there's a luxury bathroom with Jacuzzi Bath & Seperate Shower. The property is won unfurnished but Kilted will offer £10,000 towards legal fees and/or furnishings. By this we're assuming that Kilted won't be paying for Stamp Duty and other costs that may be incurred. That won't leave much left to furnish the property for example if you were looking to offer it as a furnished rental. Images of the property can be found on the Kilted Competitions website but we do think that they need to update the details to explain about costs etc. If a three bedroom home in Montrose isn't your cup of tea then there's a £200,000 cash alternative should you wish to take that - provided you win.

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the competition for the chance to win this home in Montrose or cash alternative you simply need to answer a multiple choice question and then go on to purchase tickets. Note that the default ticket purchase is set to 2 so just be aware of that when you visit. There might be discount codes and/or chances to win tickets on Kilted Competitions' social media pages so do check. There is a free entry route offered for entrants who wish to take that option. Entry is via postcard and details about how to complete your entry are given on the website. Qualifying entrants must have created an account on the website for the free entry to be included. Postal entries received without a registered account will not be processed.

39999 Tickets

Kilted Competitions aim to sell a maximum of 39999 tickets at £7 (total revenue of just under £400,000) by the start of May 2024. The ticket price is higher than last time round and you can purchase up to 999 tickets (not a good "safe gambling message"). Kilted have given themselves plenty of time to generate sales so it'll be interesting to see how quickly things go (or don't go). At time of writing just over 5000 tickets had been sold so there's a long way to go but these sales were pretty much within the first few days day of promotion. In terms of charity donations, the winner will have £10,000 to donate to a cause of their choice. Kilted say that a guaranteed draw will take place so we know someone will definitely win either the property or cash.

Our Verdict

Last time round Kilted did so well with ticket sales that their prize draw closing date actually jumped back by one month. It'll be interesting to see if that occurs again with a different property and a higher ticket price. The property is ideal for a local winner but we suspect that those entering from outside the area will opt for the cash alternative should they win. That said properties on Union Place don't seem to come up for sale that often and the last three bed sold at £260,000 in 2022. Therefore taking the property and selling may be worth a thought. From hereon we're also going to mention responsible gambling issues on win a house prize draws. As far as we can see Kilted don't offer anything in respect to tools such as self exclusion, spend limits etc. Enter Competition Here
