Of all the home competitions that have appeared on Raffall - and Loquax even - this is one of the strangest ones. The prize on offer is Dower House and it's currently up for sale on Rightmove valued at 1.3million. The images of the property on Rightmove shows a highly desirable mansion that dates back to around 1740. However on Raffall there's only one image and that is pretty poor. On top of that the description of the property on Raffall is pretty minimal. There's no location information other than it's in West Yorkshire!

How To Enter

The promoter also only provides the following information about the mansion: it has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a 3/5 acre garden! A fuller description can be found at Rightmove. However the Rightmove valuation is 1.3million - but this competition is only aiming to sell 1million worth of tickets. If that succeeds then after Raffall fees the owner will only take 900,000. Most win a home competitions tend to want more money as that allows contingency for fees and things like stamp duty, which we estimate to be around 20,000. In short this seem a very badly thought out competition.

To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window which we found disappeared very quickly. Tickets only cost 5 and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards. As far as we're aware there will be no donations made to charity.

200,000 Ticket Sales

Rose Wood hopes to sell 200,000 tickets (total revenue 1million) by the end of February 2021 in order to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales. All compensation payments are guaranteed and paid directly by Raffall Limited. Note that if 100% of the tickets are not sold then the promoter receives nothing.

We've very confused by this particular Raffall competition. A user notified us of the listing as it's one we didn't initially find. It doesn't seem to be getting featured on the site either. The listing feels limited in so many ways - almost as if the promoter isn't invested in the win a house approach. There are so few useful details and for a property of this nature there needs to be more background. Some idea of running costs would be useful. In short it looks to us that the promoter can't be bothered - we expect that entrants may well adopt the same approach.
