Ireland is definitely the current home for online property raffles and here's another one. Gordon Kenny is raffling a two bedroomed apartment in Dundalk and he's doing it for a very noble reason. A close friend's son is in need of treatment for brain stem cancer in the US and Gordon is looking to raise funds. The medical bills range from $17,000 to $30,000 a month for 18 months to 24 months. With respect to the property there's quite a lot of information that can be taken from the Raffall listing. The location is Brickfield Gardens in Dundalk and it's quite easy to discover similar properties in the area (DNG Estate Agents). We're estimating the property price to be in the region of €150,000 or £125,000.
About The Property
The property has two bedrooms and comprises of dining area, living room, and bathroom. To be fair there's very little about the property on Raffall so the link above provides details about a similar apartment. In terms of location the apartment is a "two minute drive to the M1 makes commuting to Dublin or Belfast a comfortable 45min drive" so it could be an ideal rental option. However there's no details about possible rents but a Google check seems to suggest around €1000pcm. We understand that there's an annual service charge involved and this is around €1000. As far as we know the host will pay all fees and stamp duty. We don't know whether the prize will come with all furniture included or not.
How To Enter The Competition
To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window - for this particular competition you'll need to answer a multiple choice question about how many wheels you'll find on a BMX Bike. You probably won't need Google to help you! Tickets cost £10 each and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards.
55,000 Ticket Sales
The promoter hopes to sell 55,000 tickets (total revenue £550,000) before Christmas 2022 in order to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a cash prize. However there's a little bit of confusion within the information on site. On one hand the cash alternative is the typical 75% but the blurb also states that "If less than 55,000 tickets are sold, the winner will receive a cash prize amounting to 50% of the total ticket revenue and the balance will be used for Stephen's treatment". This is similar to the My Lovely Horse Rescue competition that is also running on Raffall.
Win A House prize draws have been in short supply in 2022 and therefore we're more than happy to see new additions. Hopefully it keeps interest in the process and encourages more home owners to give it a try. How this one will fair is anyone's guess because raffles on platforms like Raffall don't seem to be doing so well whilst the likes of McKinney have managed to clear a house from 0 to 14999 tickets in a few weeks. However the human side of this raffle is what really matters and for that reason let's hope lots of people get behind the host's attempts to raise funds and that his friend's son gets their much needed treatment.
