Paul O'Sullivan has decided that after 15 years of city living that he wants to leave Cork behind and settle down in the country. To facilitate the move he hopes to raffle off his home. The property is described by Echolive.ie as being nestled into the "sloping side streets of Cork City" and just six minutes from Grand Parade and close to University College Cork. It's ideal for students if you're not keen on moving in yourself. No valuation is given so we've made an estimate based on the price of properties currently for sale in the Evergreen Road area. If we get a more up to date figure then we'll amend the information as necessary.

About The Property

The property on offer is a 2 bed "oasis in the city". It has a large, south-facing kitchen and dining room with a handmade teak bar and double doors opening onto the garden. A recently installed barrel-sauna large enough for four people to enjoy is an unusual addition to the property, although the owner does say it can also be used as a work-from-home pod. To help the winner get started with their new home the hosts are throwing in €5000. The priz draw details on Raffall don't indicate whether the host will cover legal and stamp duty fees where applicable. We assume that they will be but it's nice to see it in print.

How To Enter

To enter the raffle you need to be registered with Raffall. This can be done via Facebook or email login. Once at the house raffle page it's a case of answering a question and purchasing tickets. The question pops up in a window which we found disappeared very quickly. Tickets cost £17.50 and there's no limit to the number you can purchase. You can purchase online using debit cards. A donation of 5% of the proceeds will made to the 'Our Garden’ mental health facility on the grounds of St Mary's primary care campus. Note that this will only be paid if the property is won in the prize draw.

50,000 Ticket Sales

The host hopes to sell 50,000 tickets (total revenue £875,000) by the start of March 2022 in order to conclude the draw. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales. All compensation payments are guaranteed and paid directly by Raffall Limited. This is a little bit different to house competitions run by individuals and should offer more assurance to entrants. Note that recently some property raffles on Raffall have completed - with a home winner - with lower than specified ticket target. It seems that Raffall now offer some flexibilty on getting competitions over the line.

Our Verdict

2021 continues to be the year of Irish properties being listed on Raffall. The location, sauna and student rental potential of this particular prize may attract some interest. However we do wonder whether the ticket price and ticket target are on the slightly high side against the guesstimated valuation? On a positive note this does mean the host does have some flexibility and could potentially create a home winner at just under half the targeted sales. The host is active on social media and has already had some press coverage so that should help get the ball rolling.
