Harry Potter Balloon Race Prize Draw for Movie Stardom!

To celebrate the release of Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince on DVD 1000 balloons have been released into the London sky by Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom). Attached to each balloon is a unique code that will, when entered at Warner Bros between the 1st October 2009 and 4th December 2009, give the lucky ticket holder the chance to win a fantastic Harry Potter prize.

The video below from Elizabeth Toni captures the event!

The first place prize is a tour of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows film set. The winner will also be able to go back stage where they will be made up and filmed as one of the magical framed “moving” portrait characters that have adorned the walls of Hogwarts in all of the Harry Potter films. The winner must be over 18.

The winner will be announced on the 7th December, the day Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince is released on DVD and Blu-ray (although you can pre-order).

If you are lucky enough to find one of the balloons and a unique code, make sure you register it as the chances of winning this prize are pretty good. We don’t imagine all the balloons will be found or all the codes entered.

With such a fantastic prize on offer, one that many Potter fans would love to win (heck even I would, and I’m not the biggest fan of the wand waving mini wizard), it’s a shame that the best Warner Bros have come up with is a balloon launch of just 1000 balloons in one location. Great prize – disappointing competition!

Oh nooo – I agree, slim to no chance of finding one up here in Manchester and it is a great comp for fans – I would love to find one but certainly won’t be holding my breath. It’s a shame they didn’t have any ideas that real fans could participate in as the balloons could be found by people who are not really bothered. I agree disappointing!

Which way was the wind blowing? North, South? east? west? i want a harry pottter balloon, bet they all end up in france Bah!!

OK i admit i’m a harry potter fan- well the movies anyway.

PS does anyone know the ‘bird’ with the black hair, black top and tight black trousers (round the bum) holding the crowd back 🙂

I think this ‘competition’ is totally London-centric and not at all fair on the rest of the country! I’d love to find one, but somehow I don’t think these balloons will make it as far as Bristol… (rolls eyes).

It would have been MUCH fairer to release them in several major cities all over the UK – London isn’t the centre of the Universe, despite what they seem to think.
