If you like a camera challenge and live in the North West then The North West Year of Health and Wellbeing Partnership might well have a photo competition for you? They are calling on people across the region to get involved in its Life Through The Lens photo challenge. The competition aims to highlight a set of five simple actions which can improve wellbeing in everyday life: connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give.
Scientific evidence shows that incorporating these five ways into your everyday life can help to protect you against mental health issues, which one in four of us will suffer at some point in our lives. A panel of top UK photographers will judge the entries and there are fantastic prizes up-for-grabs, including a family holiday for four and a Samsung Galaxy phone worth £500.
Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fizz, has even taken time out from filming on the cobbles to lend her support to promote a huge photo challenge called Life Through The Lens. Jennie, who is a supporter and campaigner for mental health issues, said: “I’m very happy to support Life Through The Lens and am right behind anything that highlights mental health and wellbeing in such a positive way”.
Note that the competition is only open to people in the North West of England.
Entries can be made in the following categories: schools (both primary and secondary categories), young people (under 18s), adults, camera clubs and People’s Choice (the only category determined by most online votes). The closing date for entries the 30th September 2012.
